    Dear Adam,

I am writing to enquire about an image that I have found via Bing Image search which is your copyright:

King Edward VII pub, Thorpe-le-Soken, 2013 colour image 49561.jpg

This building and the Maltings next door I think have now been demolished.

If you able to licence it I would like to use the picture in a book that forms part of a national local history project run by the University of London called the Victoria County History. Details of the Essex series can be found here: https://www.history.ac.uk/research/victoria-county-history/county-histories-progress/essex

    The book is titled:

C.C. Thornton and H. Eiden (eds), A History of the County of Essex, Volume XII: St Osyth to the Naze: North-East Essex Coastal Parishes (Part 2). The Soken: Kirby-le-Soken, Thorpe-le-Soken and Walton-le-Soken (Published by Boydell & Brewer for the Institute of Historical Research, University of London, forthcoming 2021).

It is a hard copy (print) reference work for mainly academic libraries and archives and the print run is limited to 300. It is wholly funded by a charitable trust, The Victoria County History of Essex Trust (reg. char. 1038801).

Please could you let me know whether you would be able to supply a high-res digital copy of this image suitable for high quality book publication, and are able to grant the necessary copyright/reproduction permission and what the cost of this would be?

    My e-mail address is: c.c.thornton@btinternet.com

    yours sincerely

    Chris Thornton

    • Chris, many thanks for your enquiry, which came as quite a surprise given the age and terrible quality of the post! As I confirmed in our private message follow up, happy to share a re-edited better quality version of the photo in question without charge. Best wishes, Adam

  2. Hi Adam
I have viewed your images of the old Odeon in Colchester with great interest. I run a ‘You Tube’ channel called ‘Cinemas Lost Forever’ (not for profit) and I would love to feature these images in a planned video on the history of that cinema building. Usual image credits apply of course!!
Many thanks in anticipation. Neal Sutton.
