Explore #17 of ‘The Picnics & Palaces Tour’ En route to a much larger palace we paid a quick pit stop at another once-grand residence… History (translated and rewritten from here and here). The village of Szczyty used to lie on an important amber trade route from Southern to Northern Europe. Records going back to 1611 mention the von Hauenschild family as owners of the village. Explore #3 of ‘The Royal Variety Tour’ The next stop on our France and Belgium trip was this abandoned textile factory which specialised in manufacturing stockings and hosiery.
