This was a pretty special explore – a huge cold-war era, 3-level air defence radar bunker. The location is top-secret, so don’t even think about asking, cos I won’t be telling!

In order to protect the site as much as possible I’m not including any history either, so will just crack on with the photos – all shots were taken using the “light painting”by torchlight technique. You can read more about that here.

Looking back it’s quite surreal to think that I spent over 4 hours underground, but this place really grabs a hold of you and when each an every shot takes as much as a 30-second exposure the time soon passes!

I explored with Desolate Nation, RG, and a massive thanks to Kubix_UK for hosting the explore.

Heading down underground… wow!

Underground corridor porn! 😀

I had heard that part of the bunker might be flooded, so took the judicious decision to do this explore in wellies – and was therefore the only member of our group who managed to explore all the way to the end of this corridor!

Huge fans in the air filtration system – I can only imagine what the noise of these things must have been like when they were in full flow…
2236

…and after much crawling around through very dusty and narrow service corridors and holes in walls this is what the back of one of the fans looks like.

And so it was finally time to head back up above ground…

Once back above ground it was wonderful to feel the sun on my face again, and breathe in the fresh air. But I’m sure it won’t be too long before I’m tempted to pay another visit to this amazing place.

Thanks for coming down, I hope you enjoyed the show.
