Explore #2 of the ‘North of The Wall’ Tour
Tim and I met Mark at his house, and after an excellent and much needed home-cooked breakfast (cheers mate!) we headed north into Scotland.
Our first stop was a crumbling church, crammed full with children’s toys, books, dolls, ornaments and other knick knacks…
History
Elvanfoot Parish Church was built in the with early 20th Century, with high pitched slate roofs and a tower with a pyramidical roof.
It is thought that at some point in the early 1980s the building was used as a residential property, with its owners hoarding many items during their occupation. The church has lain disused since the last resident passed away well over a decade ago, and is suffering increasing decay and vandalism. It has been on the ‘Buildings At Risk’ register for Scotland since 2010.
Our Explore
This was a very surreal place to be mooching around on a sunny lunchtime, when I’d already been up for twelve hours or so! The hardest part was not standing on the myriad items strewn over the floors, and choosing which items to photograph. I made do with grabbing a handful of representative shots, and before too long we were on our way…
Thanks for keeping with me.

Fantastically creepy find!
i peeked inside the open back door in 2011, afraid to go inside…. now I wish I had! amazing photos
Wish someone could clean this up and make good use off Elvanfoot Church I went to Sunday school here and church services when I became a adult .. Who would want to vandalise this church in a very small village ??
Hi Ruby, it’s not particularly vandalised (or at least it wasn’t when I visited), more full of clutter from the previous occupant. It’s obviously been sifted through and strewn about, but not sure how much of that was the previous occupant, and how much local kids etc.
I live not far from there and have never known about it , thank you
