Another fairly local site which has been on my list of “to do”s for a while. Stafford Allen set up a farm and factory on the outskirts of Long Melford in 1899 to make natural pharmaceuticals, condiments and perfumes by milling herbs and spices, many of them grown on the spot. This beautiful, but exceedingly derelict, old Hall has been on my “to do” list since I first got into urban exploration last summer. Explore #32: Lime Kiln, Norfolk – February 2014

The 5th and final location of a recent day of solo exploring was this Grade II listed mid-19th Century lime kiln, hidden in woodland in the Norfolk countryside. Lined with brick and flint, and with two entrances and four chutes leading into the brick-lined pot.
