Bonus Post #2 of the ‘Love Bears’ Tour
Here are a few more ‘non urbex’ shots, taken at various spots in and around Tbilisi…
Nutsubidze Plato 1 Apartments
Located in the Saburtalo District of Tbilisi, this trio of brutalist apartment blocks were designed by the architects Otar Kalandarishvili and Guizo Potskhishvili and constructed between 1974-1976. The apartments are still occupied to this day, with its lifts operated by coin, and the ‘sky bridge’ walkways falling into disrepair along with the rest of the buildings…
Standing on the bridge, it wasn’t exactly reassuring to see this hole going straight through the concrete!
I then launched my drone to capture some different perspectives of the apartments. This shot gives a good view of the three blocks and sky bridges between…
Laguna Vere Swimming Pool
We hoped to explore this semi-abandoned swimming pool, but on arrival discovered that a local business was now using the site to store vehicles. So I made do with a couple of very quick drone shots, and we were on our way…
Looking down over the bleachers, with the city in the background…
Sunset over Tbilisi
One evening we clambered cross country to find this rather excellent vantage point over Tbilisi, and spent an enjoyable hour or so watching the sun set as we sipped neat rum from our hip flasks!
…and another shot from terra firma.
We then celebrated our final evening in Tbilisi with copious amounts of delicious traditional food and wine at a local restaurant.
Just as we were about to call it a night, our Airbnb host accosted James and me, and insisted that we join him for some of his homemade wine. We shared a whole jug of this mooonshine, only for him to produce a second jug. Our groans of drunken protestation fell on deaf ears, and we used google translate to toast yet more rounds “To friendship!”, “To freedom!”, “To women!”, “To Georgia!”… you get the picture…
Mechanics’ Garages / Workshop, Tbilisi
I’m a huge fan of Soviet-era murals, so the following morning I made it my mission to hunt down these ones at a Mechanics’ Garage on the outskirts of Tbilisi. James stayed in the car, barely alive with the mother of all hangovers from the wine the night before…
It was then time to bid a fond farewell to Tbilisi and head out into the Georgian countryside on the hunt for more abandoned architecture… more reports coming up very soon!
Thanks for stopping by.

Bonjour, savez vous si les immeubles (Nutsubidze Plato 1 Apartments) sont une propriété privée ou s’ils sont publics?
Merci !
