Dora P and I thoroughly enjoyed this little mooch. Set deep in the Suffolk countryside, Elm Row is a derelict terrace of early 19th century farmworkers’ cottages, set near to the land where the tenants worked. British Listed Building says that they are “an unusual survival” – although it’s obvious that like so many other abandoned buildings of interest the only reason that they have not long since been demolished is because they are listed (Grade II in this case).…

Explore #13: Pinebanks, Norwich, Norfolk – October 2013

Pinebanks was the former Norwich Union (now Aviva) Sports and Social Club, where dozens of sports clubs were based before its closure in 2008. The main building was built between 1880-1882, and was extended substantially in 1907. Current plans are for new homes to be built on the site, together with the usual developer’s bribes community benefits, such as a new skate park etc. This was a bit of a flying visit with some other local explorers, so the photos…

This was a spur of the moment visit with another local explorer Kubix_UK. We’d heard that pikeys have been living at the front of the site for quite some time now, so we made our approach from the back and kept a low profile. This place is 99% trashed now, so apologies in advance for the somewhat limited photographic offerings in this post.
