Explore #30: Bridge Farm, Great Ryburgh, Norfolk – February 2014

Another quick stopover on a recent day of solo exploring. I’d heard that there wasn’t a huge amount by way of interest here, but thought I’d tick it off the list anyway. As you will see the farmhouse is slap-bang in the middle of category:derp. The outbuildings were slightly more diverting, with a few bits and bobs, including a couple of trashed pianos, an old tea box, and an old blacksmith’s forge. Explore #28: Priory Farmhouse, Chediston, Suffolk – January 2014

Just a quick report this – as you will see there wasn’t much remaining of interest. History: Priory Farmhouse is a 17th Century Grade II listed timber-framed and rendered farmhouse, with later alterations and extensions. The Suffolk Register of Buildings at Risk states that minor repairs were carried out on the roof in 2011 to make the property watertight – well it certainly wasn’t when we visited, with part of the rear completely collapsed. Explore #26: Chaise Abbey, somewhere in the UK – January 2014

The first explore of a new year, and what an absolute cracker to start with! This stunning country house was built in the 1800s, but has been unoccupied since the 1960s, and has fallen into serious disrepair. It is clear that the current owners are trying to restore the property, but it is a daunting task which needs a huge amount of work doing if the battle is going to be won – which I sincerely hope it will.
