Explore #14: Elm Row, Ramsholt, Suffolk – October 2013

Dora P and I thoroughly enjoyed this little mooch. Set deep in the Suffolk countryside, Elm Row is a derelict terrace of early 19th century farmworkers’ cottages, set near to the land where the tenants worked. British Listed Building says that they are “an unusual survival” – although it’s obvious that like so many other abandoned buildings of interest the only reason that they have not long since been demolished is because they are listed (Grade II in this case).…

Explore #11: Hales Hospital, Norfolk – October 2013

This was a spur of the moment visit with another local explorer Kubix_UK. We’d heard that pikeys have been living at the front of the site for quite some time now, so we made our approach from the back and kept a low profile. This place is 99% trashed now, so apologies in advance for the somewhat limited photographic offerings in this post. Explore #8: Crookham Court School, Thatcham, Berkshire – September 2013

After my Uncle and Aunt’s wedding anniversary celebrations in Birmingham the day before (see Explore #8), Dora P and I headed South to stay with one of my sisters in Surrey. The next day we were off to Southampton to see England v Australia in the cricket ODI (I had managed to win free tickets through Natwest – result!).
