Explore #10 of the 3 Eurovirgins and a Europro tour

This was the tenth and final location of my debut European Urbex tour, and it was a cracker of a location to finish with.

This huge prison closed in 2010, when in was replaced by a more modern prison based on the US maximum security prisons built nearby. The only people who have frequented here since have been urban explorers, graffiti artists, and metal thieves. Sadly there have been more of the latter two categories of visitor than the first, and the place really has seen better days, with tags and other graffiti everywhere and a lot of damage. That said it was still a fascinating explore, and quite a surreal experience to be trying to find a way in to a prison, rather than trying to find a way out!

And after one last McDonalds it was time to head back to Calais for the ferry home.

This was such a fun and amazing weekend – so much so that I’ve already been on a second European Urbex tour since! I will have the photos from ten more sites from that trip coming very soon, along with a couple of UK explores and something very different from Iceland in between – it’s been a busy couple of months!

If you haven’t done so already then please sign up to follow this blog and you will get notifications each time I post a new report.

Cheers
